Lead Host, Ollie Lloyd

Ollie Lloyd is the main presenter of The FoodTalk Radio Show and took it over in 2023 from his great friend Susie Warran-Smith, who founded the show. He originally came on the show as a guest in 2017 when he was the CEO of Great British Chefs, the leading premium foodie website in the UK.

Nowadays he advises a range of food and drink start-ups in marketing and all things digital. A passionate home cook, he loves experimenting in the kitchen and around the BBQ or pizza oven.

Host, Susie Warran-Smith

Susie Warran-Smith (formerly Sue Nelson) is an entrepeneur and author. She was the former CEO of The Breakthrough Group, CEO of NW Fine Food and author of Foodtech UK and founder of TLA FoodTech has been presenting on FoodTalk since the beginning. You can find out more about her here

She is obsessed by great food and its provenance and has been a food writer for Speciality Food magazine, Cheshire Life and Lancashire Life. She is also author of the NW Fine Food Guide with Simon Rimmer of Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.

FoodTalk aims & guests

The programme was launched in March 2016 to showcase food tech, food innovation and to promote artisan producers. We want to publicise and highlight the work of key figures in the food and drink sector in the UK. Particularly to discuss how they became successful and their thoughts on growing trends.

FoodTalk guests have included TV chef Sophie Grigson, Craig Sams (Green & Blacks), Pippa Murray (Pip & Nut), Ali Campbell (UB40), Monika Brinton (Brindisa), William Chase (Tyrell's Crisps and Chase Vodka), Willie Harcourt-Cooze (Willie's Cacao), Sheila Dillon (Radio 4's The Food Programme), Tim Boldt (Gousto), Sam Clark (Moro), Mitch Tonks (RockFish) Patricia Michelson (La Fromagerie), Asma Kahn (Darjeeling Express), Sian Sutherland (Plastic Planet) and Adam Byatt (Celebrity MasterChef) amongst many others.

The programme's reach

The weekly podcast is uploaded onto this website as well as all the main podcast channels and sent to our syndicated radio stations. All of our guests are featured on our FoodTalk and social media feeds including LinkedIn, X / Twitter and Instagram. As of April 2023 there are 124,000 listeners per week via trackable downloads and syndicated radio stations across the UK. 

Our guests are entitled to use the relevant radio programme download in their publicity and receive artwork logos for "as featured on The FoodTalk Radio Show" if applicable.

Please note that the decision to invite guests on the show is entirely at the discretion of the producer and presenter and is based on the back story of the interviewee.

No fee is required to appear and no expenses or fees for appearances are given, nor do we accept any advertising revenue. The radio show is self-funded by Ollie Lloyd to raise the profile of the UK food and drink sector and to ensure more people hear about the amazing work some people are doing.
